Bag Piece

Over this past summer, we were able to attend Yoko Ono's exhibit at the MoMA titled "One Woman Show". Her exhibition displayed various forms of expression including writing, illustration, music, film, and performance. One aspect of her show was interactive titled "Bag Piece". In this piece she invited the public to put on a large black bag and do whatever they pleased in a platformed corner of the room. While you were on display for everyone else to watch, they could not see you inside the bag. However, from inside the bag you could see outside. While we were there, Katie Joy was able to participate in "Bag Piece". Below is Katie's perspective on her contribution to Yoko's performance piece.

"I didn't think I would want to participate, but I just felt moved when I was there... I have always enjoyed performance art, but at the time I was over eight and half months pregnant. As I placed the large black cloth over me, I became invisible and I loved that feeling. I was able create shapes through movement or stillness with my body. I felt a peace of mind throughout the entire experience. As I continued performing, I began to feel as though I was not my presenting myself in my own skin anymore. Many people stood and watched me move, some walked by, but majority watched until I revealed myself from underneath the cloth."

You can watch Katie's performance on our YouTube page here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBdfyQbhBzU

The Wall in Asbury Park, NJ

One of our dear friends and active member of 360˚, Shawn, has started a Wall at her residency in Asbury Park, NJ. We've recently been able to visit her and participate in this new Wall project. Here are just a few photographs from The Wall. Stay tuned for more!

NYC Art Exhibits

While working on our own projects this past year, we also visited many art exhibits around NYC. It's important for us to periodically experience the work of other artists. By doing this, we're visually feeding our minds which, as an artist, is imperative. Below are a few photos from some the the exhibits we've recently seen.

We're Still HERE

We know it's been a long time since our last blog post, but life stops for no one! Since our last post, a lot has happened! We're constantly evolving and adjusting to lifes' changes which is something we try conveying through our art. Needless to say, we're still here! And we're back on the blog to share in our creative ventures!

YouTube Update

We've uploaded two new live performances by artists we like, Lolawolf and Donna Missal. The Lolawolf clip is from their 2014 show at Rough Trade in Brooklyn. Donna Missals video is a compilation of her two NYC shows at Rockwood Music Hall in 2014 and 2015. Keep an eye out for more videos by 360 of artists we like that inspire us.

360˚ Open Studio (AIB2015 BOS)

Exactly a month ago from today, we invited friends, family, and the general public (AIB Bushwick Open Studios) into our studio space to showcase the process and production of our artwork. In addition to exhibiting our work space and art pieces, we encouraged active participation/interaction with our large scale mural from all attendees. In other words, we allowed people to paint, draw, or do just about anything on the mural. As the resident artists, it was so inspiring to witness "non-artists" let their guard down enough to paint along side us and share in this experience of creation. We hope to continue encouraging freedom of expression in the minds, bodies, and souls of all those we encounter. Below are some photographs from the event.

BOS2015 Coverage

This year we decided to only open our studio to the public for one day (during Bushwick Open Studios) so that we could also experience/visit the other studios of local artists in our area. Saturday, June 6th, we were able to do just that. The amount of various talents/expression we witnessed was immense and the sense of community through the appreciation of the arts was beautiful. Below are a selection of photographs we took while walking around Bushwick Open Studios in Brooklyn, NY. Stay tuned for pictures from 360˚ Open Studio!
